To Quell a Dragon’s Flame
After a prophecy predicted that he would serve the one who quelled his raging flame, the mighty dragon Elgorath took refuge in a mountainside cave to await those who would seek to tame him. Almost a thousand years later, hundreds have lost their lives in the attempt, and despite his love of battle, he begins to reminisce on the days when he got along peacefully with the other races.
Meanwhile, Jaeryd, a young tanner from a human village, ascends the mountain, ready to face the legendary dragon in a last-ditch effort to save his home from an impending orc invasion. He harbors no hope of taming the fearsome beast, but has to try for the sake of those he loves. Can either get what they want without harming the other, or will the prophecy’s fulfillment require bloodshed?
